Professor Joanna Bourke offers a warm invitation to the Shameless! Festival on November 27th. The event will bring together artists, activists, and scholars in a powerful and uplifting day of programming to confront the global crisis of sexual violence.

The SHaME and WOW teams excitedly announce more speakers and event details for the Shameless! Festival of Activism Against Sexual Violence on November 27th. In collaboration with artists, activists, and scholars, the event will address issues including the normalisation of sexual violence, rape myths, consent, everyday triggers, and survival.

The SHaME Project team and WOW celebrated the launch of the Shameless! Festival with a reception featuring HRH the Duchess of Cornwall. During her address, the Duchess conveyed the importance of changing the culture of shame surrounding survivors of sexual violence. The festival will take place on November 27th at the Battersea Arts Centre.

SHaME researchers contributed two events to Bloomsbury Festival 2020, which took place 16-25 October 2020.

On 26 May 2021, SHaME closed its Writer in Residence Programme with Winnie M Li with a public panel and creative performance event with poet Clare Shaw, SHaME academics Professor Joanna Bourke and Dr Ruth Beecher, and our Writer in Residence Winnie M Li.

On 14 April 2021, SHaME continued its Writer in Residence Programme with a public event featuring a distinguished panel of award-winning authors who spoke about transforming their own lived experiences of sexual violence into different forms of literature. Our guests were graphic writer Una, philosopher and memoirist Susan J. Brison and poet Shivanee Ramlochan.

On 08 March 2021, our academic lead, Professor Joanna Bourke, joined Jude Kelly, Marai Larasi and Winnie M Li to talk about creating a 'rape-free world' during WOW UK Festival 2021's International Women's Day programming.
