SH+ME researcher Emma Yapp is joined by researcher and activist Dr. Aviah Day to talk about Trust on the ‘What’s Missing from the Conversation?’ podcast.

You can now listen to the full podcast here on Mixcloud.

When thinking about sexual harm, issues of trust are at the forefront. In light of recent events affecting the lives of Sabina Nessar and Sarah Everard, we are considering not only the police, but wider conversations about what it is to truly trust.  We ask, who can we trust, how does that affect people’s ability to disclose information, and why do some people just choose not to?

‘What’s Missing from the Conversation?’ is a space for important topics, where we ask ‘what should be said but isn’t?’, ‘what don’t we know that we should?’ and, ‘where do we go from here?’. To illustrate the story, extracts from preexisting podcasts are discussed with invited academics, artists, activists and people in the community.

The podcasts referred to in the conversation are:

Cheer up Luv: Travis Alabanza

Obsessed With…: I May Destroy You

London Review of Books: Amia Srinivasan

Have a question, comment or thought you want to share? We want to hear from you! What do you think about why people do or don’t disclose? What is trust to you? Comment on IG or Twitter!
